Haus of Powell is seeking a talented, highly organized Junior Interior Designer to support our growing residential interiors and furnishings projects.
This is a hands-on design role for someone who has a strong eye for interiors, understands space planning, and is comfortable moving between technical design work, furniture sourcing, client presentations, project coordination, and installation.
We are looking for someone who can take creative direction, understand the overall vision, and independently move the work forward without needing constant oversight.
Responsibilities
- Create furniture layouts and space plans for residential interiors
- Assist with furniture, rug, lighting, art, accessory, and décor selections
- Prepare client presentation boards, mood boards, and design concepts
- Develop and update furniture plans, specifications, and project documentation
- Read architectural plans and accurately measure residential spaces
- Assist with sourcing through trade vendors and furniture manufacturers
- Coordinate samples, finishes, fabrics, and product selections
- Support furniture procurement, order tracking, and project organization
- Assist with window-covering layouts and design coordination
- Prepare projects for furniture and accessory installations
- Participate in installation days, styling, and final project setup
- Help maintain an elevated and well-styled Haus of Powell showroom
- Communicate with vendors, showrooms, and trade partners
- Maintain organized project files and design documentation
- Support senior designers throughout the design process
- Assist with photography preparation and final styling
Qualifications
- Degree or coursework in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or related field preferred
- 1–3 years of residential interior design experience preferred
- Strong furniture layout and space-planning skills
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or comparable design software
- Ability to read architectural drawings and floor plans
- Strong working knowledge of furniture scale and proportion
- Experience creating design presentations and specification documents
- Familiarity with furniture and interior-design trade vendors
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Comfortable working independently after receiving direction
- Professional and polished when interacting with clients and vendors
- Willingness to participate in hands-on installations and styling
